KNOW - LOVE - SERVE GOD

During the summer we usually like to get on the road and see a little sightseeing in this
wonderful country that God has created. With the price of things today and the economy
the way it is we should spend a little more time than usual in getting ready. Something
like our trip to eternity - make sure where we are going, how many things we really wish to
see on the way and how to go about it.
Too often we just start out on a trip, having not prepared at all, or just taking things from
day to day and not worrying about where or how we are going to get somewhere.
Likewise when we are on the way to heaven we really don't plan too much on how to get
there - we just figure that that is the ultimate destination and whatever happens along the
way is just ordinary - maybe for everyone, but certainly not just for you as a definite
person. Your trip is something special for you - and so is your trip to eternity.
1. Preparation for trip: maps - phone numbers, events of area - insurances - money
2. Trip to heave - preparation - life --- sacraments - God is destination
3. Must know destination. East Coast? West Coast? Try to lay your hands on everything
you can to tell you about your destination --- Likewise, try to get your hands on everything
you can to let you know about God - lots of reading - meditation - thinking.
4. Once we get to know our destination, read about it, visualize it
5. Liking what we know - good things about the West Coast - the East Coast - good scenic
routes - good notions of God - like what we have heard / read / thought about Him
6. More intense relationship to area - get to know people and what they do - Get to really
know God and what He has and can do with your life - help us to be saints - that is why
we were created.
7. Put ourselves out and get really involved - pack bags, make reservations and get
money from bank. Once we have found ourselves in love with God we don't hold anything
back from Him - service in no matter what area, with whom, only that that service must be
aimed with God at heart.
8. Say a prayer to the Person whom you know, love and wish to serve.
If you have a little GPS, learn how to use it and how to return home in case something
happens - they are very good, and so is a HOME direction with your soul in case you have
trouble with your soul on the way to eternity.
